Dominique and Gareth approached us when they decided to re-arrange their living space. An open kitchen had to be scaled down and a guest bathroom fit in. And here was our challenge: everything, from materials to appliances had to be as clean and sustainable as ultimately possible.
We made several small floorpan adjustments to fit a bathroom accessible from the hallway and designed the reduced kitchen space not to impair its functionality. For the cupboards, we sourced the cleanest wood possible and had them coated with natural paint. The colour of the front panels was custom mixed to match that of the cradle-to-cradle certified tiles. The kitchen countertop was manufactured from 75% of recycled materials. For both kitchen and bathroom, we chose high-quality faucets and mixers that easily could be maintained and repaired. To complete the kitchen, the customer selected the kitchen appliances of the highest energy efficiency.
